EISHI: oban tate-e (36.5 x 24.4 cm.); two beauties seated below a hanging bell and a fan cartouche decorated with a koto instrument placed on a veranda, from the series Ukiyo Genji hakkei "Eight floating world views of the tale of Genji", published by Nishimuraya Yohachi [Eijudo], subtitled Suzumushi bansho, an allusion to Mii temple, one of the eight views of Lake Biwa, also represented by the hanging bell, pale yellow ground- very good impression, slightly faded, minor worming restored edges and in bottom of title cartouche
