(34.3/8 x 51.7/8 in.), divided into sections and mounted on linen, including table of number keys identifying the various fields, forests and farms, manuscript title label on the linen backing, "Dom[ain]e & dpendences de Chantemerle". The location of this estate has not been identified. [With:] Seven finely drawn ink and watercolor road maps of central France, [1714]. Various sizes, most large and small folio full sheets, 4 maps with attached manuscript tables, with 7 large folio leaves of manuscript text relating to the relevant road systems (one still attached to its map), occasional short marginal tears. The maps bear the following manuscript titles (titles and place name captions in cursive for the smaller maps and in stencilled capital letters for the larger maps): "Grandes Routes de la Generalit d'Orlans"; "Carte de la Gnralit de la Rochelle"; "Route de Poitiers la Rochelle"; "Grandes Routes de la Generalit de Moulins"; "Grandes Routes d'Auvergne"; "Route de Paris Lyon par Dijon"; and "Route de Limoges Lyon", the last two consisting of 3 and 1 attached sheets respectively. The maps and sheets, foliated in ink, appear to have been extracted from a volume. Sir Herbert George Fordham, wax seal on several text leaves and map versos.
