A Scrimshaw Walrus Tusk**
Anonymous, American 19th century
A large tusk, engraved with the image of a packet ship under full sail, a sperm whale, and a decorative floral motif in the shape of a heart. The tusk is also engraved with three bands of stars which go around the entire circumference of the tooth. The tooth is inscribed "Sag Harbor" above the ship, and "1850" below the ship.
