Lot Essay

In 1921, Frishmuth conceived The Vine as a small statuette using René Wilde as her model. Two years later, she decided to enlarge the figure and include it in a major exhibition of sculpture organized by the National Sculpture Society.

A leather bound copy of Famous Small Bronzes, accompanies the lot.
