the complete set of six offset lithographs in colors, 1969, on heavy offset paper mounted on canvas as issued, presumably signed in pencil on the reverse of each sheet and inscribed 'A.P.' (one of 10 artist's proofs; the edition was 100), published by Neuendorf Verlag, the full sheets, occasional minor spot of ink loss, otherwise in very good condition
overall: 72 x 83 in. (1841 x 2108 mm.)

Lot Essay

It is important to note the way in which the artist chose to display this example of Roman Notes. According to the publisher, Hans Neuendorf, it was Cy Twombly's preference that this set be displayed laid down on canvas and combined to create one whole coherent image, to be viewed unglazed - thereby creating more of a sense of immediacy between composition and viewer.
