A DIRECTOIRE ORMOLU AND BLUED-STEEL PENDULE D'ENFILADE
The reverse dial signed Klesser Troyes, circa 1795
The twin circular white enamelled pierced dials with Roman and Arabic chapter rings displaying the movement with skeletonized plates, with pierced ormolu hands, the main dial with center sweeping second hand and inner concentric calender ring with blued steel hand showing day and date, the reverse similarly displaying the skeletonized movement and pin-wheel escapement, housed within a sunburst and star mounted drum case beneath an elaborate ribbon-tied lyre-decorated grid-iron pendulum, suspended from an ormolu eagle on bracket

With the remarkable feature of twin skeletonized dials, such pendules d'enfilade were designed to be hing in an enfilade of rooms, thus enabling the time to be told from either side.
