A RARE CARVED AMBER VASE AND COVER
19TH CENTURY

The translucent crizzled material well carved as a flattened baluster vase with bands of ruyi-heads, shou characters and pendent plantain leaves within keyfret borders, divided by ferocious lion mask handles suspending loose rings at the neck, the domed cover with a recumbent Buddhistic lion and its cub carved in the round forming the finial (inner rim of cover restored, break to ring restuck)
