A FINE ROBIN'S-EGG-GLAZED LANTERN VASE
IMPRESSED QIANLONG SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

The vase moulded with a pair of inverted vase-form handles on each side below the high shoulder, covered with a mottled glaze of rich turquoise and reddish chocolate-brown continuing over the slightly lipped rim to the interior and on the base
9 1/4 in. (23.5 cm.) high

Lot Essay

Vases of this kind are sometimes called denglong zun, lantern vases. Cf. a similar Qianlong robin's-egg-glazed vase in the Musee Guimet, illustrated in Oriental Ceramics, The World's Great Collections, 1981, vol. 7, no. 184.
