Uniform Items of the 79th Highlanders
A fine pre-1881 scarlet doublet of the 79th Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders, with blue facings, the collar and gauntlet cuffs braided for a Field Officer, the former bearing a Lieutenant Colonel's Crown at both ends, large gilt buttons (as Parkyn Fig. 501), the Inverness skirts edged with narrow gold lace; a set of magnificent sword-slings (in the style of a Leve Dress dirk-belt) of gold Thistle embroidery on blue velvet; and a good white buff shoulder-belt, with slings (lacking shoulderbelt-plate)
