Lot Essay

Private Duncan Galbraith, who was born in Paisley and enlisted in Barrhead, was killed in action on 26.9.1915 during the attack on Hill 70. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.

Sergeant Hugh Mackay, who was born in Gateshead and enlisted at Barrhead, and a brother-in-law to the four Galbraith brothers, died of wounds on 10.7.1917 and is buried in Lijssenthoeck Military Cemetery.
