Lot Essay

The Reverend Thomas Hebert Jacques completed his education at Durham University and took Holy Orders in 1916. Appointed a Chaplain 4th Class in the A.C.D. towards the end of the Great War, he was advanced to Honorary Chaplain to the Forces in 1922 and served as a Chaplain at Bagdad between 1924-26. Placed on the Reserve of Officers in 1929, he returned to military service between 1941-45 and was latterly the Vicar of Thurnham and Detling, near Canterbury.
