One woven by J. Impson, Cortland County, dated 1845; the other woven by M. Hicks, dated 1830
One worked in red and white in two panels, the central field embellished with rosettes issuing blossoms and foliage enclosed on three sides by a border of spreadwinged eagles flanked by trees, one border bearing the woven identification, "J. Impson/1845/Cortland County"; the other worked in blue and white in two panels, the central field embellished with organic designs issuing roses and foliage flanked by rosettes enclosed within a border on three sides with spreadwinged eagles separated by Independence Halls, one border bearing the woven indentification, "AMERIC/AN.INDE/PENDEN/CE.DECL/ARED.JU/LY 4 1776/WOVE/IN 1830/M. HICKS"
