The upper drawing depicts a Tumbal which is an ammulet against witches and the lower drawing depicts a Leyak or witch who, in the context of Bali, is a spirit of a living person submitting to the power of black magic.

The work is done in Bali as the artist was researching for his well regarded Island of Bali.

The work will be sold with the letter of authentication by Mrs Adriana Williams, author of the book Covarrubias, University of Texas Press, 1994.
