A CLASSICAL CARVED MAHOGANY CURULE-BASE ARMCHAIR
Attributed to Duncan Phyfe (1768-1854), New York City, circa 1815
The bowed, scrolled and veneered tablet crest above an x-shaped molded splat centered by a carved rosette surrounded by a reeded frame continuing to reeded and downward scrolling shaped arms over urn-turned supports on plinths above a trapezoidal upholstered seat and reeded seat frame, on a reeded curule front support centered by an cast lion mask and with animal-paw feet and sabre back legs joined by perpendicular ring-turned swelled stretchers, en suite with the following lot
