A RARE RELIGOUS SUBJECT TEABOWL AND SAUCER
Circa 1842
Each side with an Eastern Orthodox deacon and an angel standing at an altar, the priest wearing a mitred hat and carrying a smoking brazier on a long cord, on his chest an Orthodox cross, each side with a seven-light candelabra and the interior showing a crossed staff and caduceus beside two instruments of the passion (2)

The only other recorded example seems to be a nearly identical teabowl and saucer, dated 1842 in gilt beneath the central crossed elements, sold Christie's London, 14 June 1976, lot 188
