The first with arms of Warren of Ireland impaling Delancey flanked by supporters standing on iron-red platforms, within an underglaze blue grapevine border; the second with the arms of Stephens with Russell in pretence in colors and gilt within grisaille Baroque scrollwork, grisaille diaper on the well and three grisaille flowering boughs on the rim centered by the eagle crest

Lot Essay

Made for Vice Admiral Sir Peter Warren, who reportedly married a daughter of Etienne Delancey for whom Delancey Street, New York was named. See D.S. Howard, op. cit., p. 278.
