Lot Essay

The subject of this portrait is one of the children in the Rothschild family, probably Oscar Ruben Rothschild, who was born in 1888. Several versions exist; it was the artist's method to model in wax over a plaster base, creating a distinct, unique expression in each work.

Luciano Caramel will include this sculpture in his forthcoming Rosso catalogue raisonné.
