Details
cover 1855 (12 Oct.) envelope from Auckland to Halifax, bearing 1855 London 1d. dull carmine -- two examples with clear to large margins nearly all round and each lightly cancelled with two strikes of the "1" obliterator, the left-hand stamp additionally tied by large h.s. "6", Halifax c.d.s. alongside the adhesives, despatch c.d.s. on reverse; both stamps with a tiny tear and the envelope with various faults. One of a handful of covers known bearing two examples of this elusive stamp. An extremely rare franking. Photo
