A WINTERTHUR BIBLICAL TILE, LATE 16TH/EARLY 17TH CENTURY, painted within a moulded cartouche of a vertical oval intersected with a horizontal rectangle on a white ground in shades of yellow, blue and manganese with the angel appearing to Hagar and pointing out a well, the dying Ishmael in the right background (Genesis 21, as labeled), a rich foliate scroll at each corner--17¾ x 13in.
