Each of octagonal form with later brass liner, with crenellated tops above a pair of trefoil arched windows and an oak-leaf clustered arch, surmounted by an oak-leaf and arrow-head finial with further trefoil arch below, later parcel-gilt, adapted, originally wall-mounted

Lot Essay

The jardiniere, constructed from architectural fragments, are conceived in the George IV gothic manner such as that introduced in the mid-1820s at Windsor Castle by Sir Jeffry Wyattville (d. 1840), (G. de Bellaigue and P. Kirkham, 'George IV and the Furnishings of Windsor Castle', Furniture History, 1972, pp. 4-5, 24-25, pls. 3b and 5).
