Each with a D-shaped hinged top crossbanded in rosewood and with a foliate border, with red baize-lined playing-surface, above a foliate- decorated frieze, on square tapering legs

Lot Essay

The form of these tables, with their rounded cross-banded tops, panelled frieze corners and tapering square legs relates to a pattern featured in Gillows Estimate Sketch Book, 1797, (L. Boynton (ed.) Gillow Furniture Design 1760-1800, Royston, 1995, fig. 8).
