A Pond Model Yacht Hull
Anonymous (American, 20th century)
Probably from New England, this model is carved from a solid piece of pine which is un-finished. The keel has a notched fore-foot and a flared piece of lead which tapers to the aft end of the keel. On the topsides are copper staples on either side probably to help support the chain plates. The hull has been hollowed and is fitted with a pine deck. The deck is cut out for the mast, is fitted with a toe rail and has several cleats mounted to it. The model is displayed on a pine base.
44½ x 10¾ x 13½ in. (113 x 27.4 x 34.4 cm.), model on base.
