A Well-Carved White Jade Archaistic Vessel
18th Century
Carved in the form of a ewer raised on an oval foot, the upper and lower sections carved in thread relief with abstract archaic scrolls, with a double strap scroll handle on one side of the lower section and a small bird with arched chest and back-swept wings on the other side below a similar bird suspending a loose ring at the rim of the upper section, its curved wing tips forming two small ovoid apertures, the translucent stone of white tone
