Though not directly after a painting by Bosch, the present work draws considerable inspiration from two of his most famous compositions, the Musical Inferno forming part of the triptych of the Garden of Delights in the Museo del Prado, Madrid, and the Last Judgement in the Groeningemuseum, Bruges.
