Painted after Franois Boucher with a woodland vignette depicting a youth and two maidens fishing

Lot Essay

This plaque was derived from a pastoral oil by Boucher (d. 1770). The view is taken from one of a pair of pictures showing the pleasures of rural sports, this one entitled 'Fishing', it dates from around 1766 together with its companion 'Hunting'.
