A JAPANESE NAMBAN BRASS-MOUNTED MOTHER-OF-PEARL-INLAID, BLACK AND GILT LACQUER CHEST-ON-GILTWOOD STAND
The chest late 17th/18th century, the stand basically late 17th century and possibly associated
The rectangular chest decorated on the top, front, and sides with garden scenes and the back with a flowering plant, the front doors set at the center with a large oval clasp and at each side with three foliate clasps, enclosing a long drawer above two short drawers above a central drawer flanked by four short drawers, the inside of each door decorated with a bird on a bamboo branch, each side set with a bale handle, on bracket feet the stand with molded frieze, Solomonic column legs joined by a shaped X-stretcher on bun feet, the chest bearing two paper labels, one inscribed 9756, the other KING-LONG/1736-1796/Pequeno gabinete, 2 puertas/antiguas - laca. -/6176/9756, the stretcher of stand replaced
