Two faon de Venise 'cold-painted' devotional flasks
17th Century, Venice
The first with an ovoid body with pointed base, the sides decorated with pincered ornment, painted a freddo with a standing figure of St. Nicholas, his right hand raised in blessing, within an oval scroll cartouche, the flared neck with vermicular collar, the hexagonal flask with alternate turquoise and clear pincered ornament and painted a freddo with a bust portrait of St. Nicholas flanked by two figures and the reverse with a sailing boat (neck reduced and enamels rubbed)
