The rectangular box with rounded corners decorated on the lid in iro-e togidashi on a roiro and hirame ground with a cockerel, with highlights in kirigane, the small plants at its feet in low-relief gold takamaki-e, the edges of the lid fundame and the sides roiro; the underside of the lid designed with with young pines and hills in gold takamaki-e on a nashiji ground, and the lower interior matching, the area below the removable trays roiro and nashiji, the oval silver mizuire engraved with chrysanthemums in a fitted saucer, the edges of the inkstone laquered gold and inscribed on the underside that it accompanies this box, base of the writing box roiro and nashiji
