Each with rectangular padded back, arms, seat and cushions covered in red velvet, on turned and gadrooned tapering legs, brass caps and castors, each including two baluster cushions, one seat cushion, three rectangular cushions, and two loose square cushions, one with paper label inscribed in ink 'BRYNKINALT RN'

Lot Essay

The sofas are likely to have formed part of the drawing-room furniture commissioned by Arthur Hill-Trevor, 2nd Viscount Dungannon (d. 1837) following his aggrandisement of his Jacobean house around 1808. Their Grecian reed-enriched feet correspond to furniture manufactured by Gillows at this period.
