Lot Essay

A watercolour by Hunt entitled Mist Wreaths was exhibited at the Old Water-Colour Society, Winter 1869-70, no. 361. The present picture can be compared with one of the same size in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, entitled A November Rainbow: Dodlwyddelan Valley, executed in 1866.

It has been suggested that the present picture depicts Glencoe.
