Lot Essay

The present watercolour is a 'souvenir' after Guardi. The original painting is in the Wallace Collection, London, and was executed in the early 1770s. Brabazon executed a number of versions of this view, one of which was sold in these Rooms, 26 October 1982, lot 156.
