PROBABLY KIRMAN, SOUTH EAST PERSIA, FIRST HALF 17TH CENTURY
With slightly rounded sides and sloping rim on short foot, the white interior painted in grey with angular prunus blossom motifs around a number of large fish, the rim with similar prunus around herons alternating with stylised rocks, the underside with radiating panels cointaining floral sprays above a band of meandering floral panels, a recessed circle in the centre of the glazed foot, repaired clean breaks
15¾in. (40.1cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

The underside of the foot bears a red wax nasta'liq owner's seal impression in the name Henry Churchill, dated AH 1272 (1855-6 AD).
