18", with fully jewelled gilt-finished lever movement, bimetallic compensation balance, wolf's tooth winding, repeating on two hammers, gold cuvette, the white enamel dial with the letters A.M. Goldenberg for the numerals, blued steel spade hands, four subsidiary dials indicating month, day, date and constant seconds combined with phases of the moon, the case (No. 221385) with inlaid blue and red enamel initials to the front, the back with an engraved cyrillic inscription centered by inlaid blue enamel Roman numerals XXV, case stamped, cuvette and movement signed
54 mm. diam.

Lot Essay

It is thought that this watch belonged to Abraham Moissevich Goldenberg and that he received it from the Board of the Associaton of Russian Jews in Germany of which he was the Vice Chairman.
The engraved cyrillic inscription on the back reads 'In good memory from colleagues'.

Patek Philippe confirm production of the watch including actual dial and enamel initials in 1898 and subsequent sale to their French retailer Rhodanet on 15 December 1898.
