Down Brothers' Catalogue...for 1900 does not include this set, but that for 1906 does, indicating that the set was first manufactured between these years. In 1906 it was listed under the name of 'The Colonial' minor operations set, 'suggested by Mr. [later Sir] R. Fox-Symons' (p.54). It appeared in the 1914 Catalogue...(p.54), and later in the 1929 Catalogue..., renamed 'The Dominion' set (p.54).
Down Bros. Ltd. were among the many suppliers to Scott's Last Expedition to donate to the British Polar Exhibition Fund (see The Polar Book, p.115).
