Lot Essay

Born in Galesburg, Illinois, Henry Jarvis Peck (1880-1964) spent his childhood in Warren, Rhode Island and later came to Wilmington to study with Howard Pyle. He is associated with the Brandywine artists and painted primarily marine and rural subjects and wrote and illustrated several works in collaboration with his brother, Walter. This lively children's book tells the story of a skipper and crew aboards the clipper, Pollyannmariajane, on a quest for buried treasure.
