Lot Essay

Private George Bungay was born in Salisbury in August 1852 and attested for the Royal Marine Light Infantry at Portsmouth in August 1870. Qualifying as a Marksman in 1879, he served ashore in Egypt from February 1884 until April 1885, was present at Tofrek and in the Suakin operations, and was invalided in July of the latter year.
