Sold with original Commanding Officer's Certificate of Commendation (dated 3.11.1936).
M.M. London Gazette 6.11.1936 'For gallant and distinguished services rendered in connection with the emergency operations in Palestine during the period 15 April to 14 September 1936'.
Fusilier Thomas Kelly, M.M., was serving with the 1st Battalion, the Royal Scots, at the time of being cited for 'Gallant conduct at Jaffa when on sentry duty during the disturbances in Palestine in 1936' (above described C.O.'s Certificate of Commendation refers). Subsequently attached to the B.E.F., Kelly was taken P.O.W. following the 2nd Battalion's stout defence of its positions near Ypres and was latterly incarcerated in Stalag 20B at Marienburg.
