Sir William Reid Dick was knighted in 1935 and was named the Monarch's Sculptor for Scotland from 1938 until his death. He is best known for his large number of monuments and memorials, including the statue of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Grosvenor Square; the equestrian statue of Lady Godiva, Coventry; and the RAF Monument.
