The upper part curved with high border, carved with two frontally facing heads in high relief, on the right Attis wearing characteristic pointed Phrygian cap and ivy leaf fillet, on the left a portrait head of a bearded man with short wavy hair, repaired, mounted
22 x 12 in. (56 x 30.5 cm.)
Provenance
Found by the owner buried in a bombed garden in Putney, London, after World War II; the relief was already mounted when discovered and had probably been used as a garden ornament.
