Opening bifolio from a Qur'an,
Arabic manuscript on paper, 15ll., the first, middle and last in larger gold script, the remainder in two narrower panels of small back naskh flanked by illuminated cartouche panels, gold roundels between verses, divisions of text marked marginally with illuminated medallions, red and gold margins between black rules, blue outer rule, the opening bifolio fully illuminated predominantly in gold, blue and black, opening folio inscribed 'al-Qur'an al-karim', (some wear to edges, some possible retouching to inscriptions), probably India, 17th century - 32 x 22cm.
