A WOOL-ON-LINEN NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER
SIGNED SUSANA SCHULTZ, SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA, CIRCA 1800 - 1820

The square plain woven linen ground worked in pink, beige, blue, green, yellow, red and black wool threads in three enclosed horizontal registers, the first alphabetical, the second a variety of crowns and flowers, the third and largest an open field of tulips, geometric shapes, dogs, parrots, distelfinks, roosters and hearts, all above the cross-stitched name, "Susana Schultz," next to two wrought roosters and a slat-back sidechair--10 5/8in. high, 10 5/8in. wide
