Lot Essay

Edmond Lachenal (1855-1930) trained in Théodore Deck's studio in the 1870s before founding his own in 1880. From 1884 he exhibited regularly at the Galerie Georges Petit on the rue de Séze and exhibited many ceramic sculptures after works by artists working in bronze including Rodin and Fix-Masseau. This box and cover is after a model by Max Blondat (1872-1925).
