AN AUBUSSON VERDURE TAPESTRY FRAGMENT
Early 18th century
Woven in wools and silks, depicting a wooded landscape with a river and a changies pavillion beyond, within a flowerhead-enriched trellis border, the corners with foliage and fruit, the lower edge with a blue border inscribed 'M.R.DAVBVSSON.DAS.', the signature possibly associated, reduced in height, three corners largely rewoven, the sides and top with later outer brown slip, rebacked
