A fine Dutch silver marriage casket "knottekistje"
Maker's mark W with arrow, probably Frisia, mid 17th Century
Of trunk shape, hinged domed cover with swing handle, on four ball supports with four applied leaves, the sides finely engraved with six oval cartouches depicting Faith, Hope, Charitas, Love, a male and female figure, the cover with a marriage scene amongst scroll foliage, fitted with a cherub-lock
