AN EXQUISITE BELLE EPOQUE GOLD-MOUNTED GUILLOCHE ENAMEL GEM-SET EGG PENDANT
Of ovoid form, the opalescent guilloché enamel base inlaid throughout with spiralling lines of ruby and emerald florets and diamond leaves, with a diamond-set suspension ring and sunburst terminal at the base, the centre with a rose-cut diamond border with similar pushpiece opening to reveal two empty compartments, one with a small puff for applying rouge and the other possibly for pills, the interior with a red guilloché enamel cover decorated with a rose-cut diamond ribbon bow, circa 1900, probably French, probably made for the Russian market, 4.0 cm. high (excluding ring, one diamond deficient)
