A French patinated and gilt bronze ink stand, second quarter 19th century
Of rectangular form with everted rim above a gallery with applied relief cast scrolling foliate and rocaille motifs, above a further foliate cast gallery, on a spreading base on four rocaille feet, the twin ink wells to the top with foliate cast circular covers with acorn finials (detached, and one replaced), flanking the central rectangular recess with coiled serpent handle -- 7½in. (19cm.) wide, 3¼in. (8.3cm.) high, 3½in. (8.9cm.) deep
