Quarter-plate daguerreotype, arched mount with gilt slip, paper surround, paper taped in gilt with thick paper backing, inscribed Victoria Prins Royal -- 1847 from life on the reverse, approx. 5¾ x 4¾ in.

Lot Essay

It has been suggested by Helen Gray, Asst. Curator, Royal Archives, Windsor Castle that the photographer may have been William Edward Kilburn. He was commissioned to make daguerreotypes of the Royal Family from 1846 - 52.
