Eight albumen prints mounted on card as a panorama, 9¼ x 87 in., in red morocco boards titled PANORAMA DU BOSPHORE COTE D' EUROPE PAR G. BERGGREN, 12½ x 15¼ in.; an album containing sixty-five albumen prints, sizes from 6¼ x 8 in. to 8½ x 10¾ in., a few titled or numbered in ink in the negatives (including one signed by Berggren), approx. twenty-seven titled in ink on mounts, black half-leather and blue boards, 15 x 11 in. Views from various countries including Greece, Cyprus, Italy, North Africa, the British Colonies,Turkey, Gibraltar, including temple studies, several views of the Acropolis and other ancient sites, the interior of a mosque in Constantinople, harbour views, ships, crews, colonial buildings and a few portraits

Berggren was born in Stockholm and trained as a carpenter. He made his photographic apprenticeship in Hamburg and after travelling through Europe settled in Constantinople, opening a studio there in the 1870s. He is mostly known for his views of Constantinople and the major cities of Turkey.
