by Charles-Alexandre Bouillerot (fl. 1769-1793), marked, Paris, 1776/1777, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Baptiste Fouache, the countermark of Jean-François Kalendrin 1789-1792 and later French control marks
Oval box, the cover, side and base panels with translucent scarlet enamel on an engine-turned vertical coin pattern, within white enamel borders, the cover centred with an oval enamel plaque of a girl seated in a landscape with Cupid in her lap, her right hand holding a chicken leaving its egg-shell, a cockerell and dog aside, within a frosted border enamelled with translucent green leaves and red berries, the side pilasters similarly adorned, the frosted gold borders with translucent red enamelled ribbons intertwined with translucent green enamelled garlands of leaves
