A handwritten label states on the reverse that this miniature was presented to Samuel Cartwright by Prince Louis Napoleon in 1852.
Lot Essay
Louis Napoleon, younger brother of Napoleon I married Hortense de Beauharnais in 1802 (see lot 306). He was made King of Holland in 1806 and ruled until 1810. He died in Liverno.
